Get green tips and learn more about Green Riverside.
In 2009, Riverside was designated an Emerald City by the California Department of Conservation. This resulted in the expansion of the city’s Green Action Plan, a summary of all the green goals Riverside is working hard to accomplish.
City staff shared the revised plan with the community, whose collective response seemed to be: “This is fantastic, but what can I do?”
The city responded by creating its Sustainability Workbook, a comprehensive guide featuring hundreds of tips and ideas that show its readers how to go green. This innovative workbook focuses on four key areas of everyday living - energy, water, waste and transportation – and helps residents understand all of the green options Riverside offers within these areas.
Individuals, community groups and businesses are invited to review these guides to find out how to go green by conserving energy and water. As an example, you’ll find valuable information on energy-efficiency rebates and weatherizing your home or business.
The Sustainability Workbook and Green Action Plan are the culmination of city-community cooperation and the recognition of our need for sustainable practices.
